Summer breeze, night & day

At the north-eastern end of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain a path leads to the summer palace Generalife. As water is an important part of Moorish architecture this palace and its gardens are really worth a visit – at day and at night. It was a good place for the kings of Granada to recover he from governing because the Alhambra was so close that he could return easily to his daily business if necessary.

The visit of Generalife starts in wonderful geometric gardens leading to the Patio de Polo which functioned as an entrance. If you’ve not got lost between hedges and trees you can then enter the main space, the Patio de la Acequia. Very equal to the Nasrid palaces here a long stretched water basin leads to magnificent reflections. When leaving some stairs lead you up the hill and even their handrails consist of water flows. A nice places to relax and enjoy different types of flowers and other plants.
