Swabian metropolis

This time I came to Stuttgart to introduce a friend to the city – and to see my team loose against the Verein für Bewegungsspiele (VfB), a designated candidate for the descent to the second league, in the Mercedes-Benz-Arena. But as we were meeting some friends that moved to Stuttgart, my mood was unbreakable.

We were staying at the hotel “Espenlaub”, a cheap and not so comfortable hotel, which is located nicely near Olgaeck. About the first day, there is not so much to say: After 90 disillusioning but sunny minutes at the stadium we grabbed some sushi and ended the day at a bar playing the hits of the 90s.

The next day started with a long walk through nice neighbourhoods with beautiful places and houses with historical facades. Later on we went shopping at the city center, had brunch at the Hüftengold, visited the market hall and the Schloßplatz, having a break at the Schloßgarten. There we found a nice coffee bar with a see terrace, the NIL.

We continued to the green area around the Killesberg and visited the Weißenhofsiedlung, an example for Bauhaus art used in building. For a good finish of our trip, we met some friends at the Weinstube “Zur Kiste” and tried some Swabian dishes. As always, visiting Stuttgart is nice – but being here on a monday is a big disadvantage, because the art museum and the national gallery are closed.
