The Cronut

I already did a lot of stupid things while travelling. But what about standing in line for hours in New York City just to get pastries from a bakery? Well, it is not any bakery, it is the Dominique Ansel Bakery selling very good products. And one day,  Dominique Ansel invented a combination of a croissant and a donut – the Cronut.

With a very good marketing strategy and the idea of only selling a limited number of Cronuts per day, they even created a new job: being paid for waiting in line to get one of these bakery products (you can only buy two a day). I came here, read my ebook and just before I could enter the store all Cronuts were sold out.

Next time I came back I was more lucky and received two of the last – and they were really fantastic. The taste of croissant filled with cream. Waiting there in the early morning, with constant fear of having been too late and the staff always telling whether you have good chances is a unique experience – but still pretty stupid.

Just walk in any other time of the day and get one of the other wonderful products. They even got a small terrace in the back.
