Beer and the United States? That doesn’t fit too well together for a German, continously experiencing the advantages of the German purity requirements (“Reinheitsgebot“). But in fact, there is a pretty good brewery in New York City. One with splendid bottle designs and various kinds of beer to taste.
The Brooklyn Brewery offers tours and tasting of their different beers, all brewed in Brooklyn – like the Brooklyn Summer Ale, Brooklyn Lager or Brooklyn Pilsner. You can also buy some bottles for take-away; but be reminded: You are not allowed to drink in public in the US. To floor a bottle of Pilsner at the shore of the East River would be nice, but is impossible.
