The Stare Miasto of Warszawa, Poland is the historic center of the capital of Poland. It was destroyed in World War II and rebuilt until 1955 in original style. Since 1980 it is a UNESCO world heritage site. And it is a wonderful place to be, especially in Christmas time when the area is decorated and enlightened.
It contains the old town market place (Rynek, 13th century CE), the royal castle from 1598 at plac Zamkowy – where also the column to glorify Sigismund III Vasa, who shifted power from Kraków to Warszawa can be found – and plac Kanonia (cannon square) with St. John’s Cathedral.
