Ryōan-ji is a Zen temple in Kyōto, Japan, dating back to 1499. It is well known because of its wonderful Zen garden – you can sit on a wooden platform and look at 15 stones in a 30 x 10 meters small garden. It is surrounded on three sides by a wall.
Doesn’t sound like a spectacolous thing but the temple is a really nice place to calm down and relax. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site.
