There aren’t too many museums in Ηράκλειο, Greece – but one important one: the archaeological museum is number two in Greece, after the one in Αθήνα. Until the 1960s all findings on Κρήτη (Kriti, Crete) were brought here, later regional museums were opened.
The museum was opened in 1952 and shows artifacts from the 7th century BCE to the 4th century CE. It consists of 20 rooms on two levels. And yes: you should have a slight interest in history to find it interesting here.
