The Fernsehturm in Berlin, Germany, located close to the Alexanderplatz was built until 1969. It is 368 meters high and at 203 meters there is a visitors platform, a 207 meters you can find a restaurant. It weighs 31000 tons.
The shape of the main element is a ball – this goes back to the Russian satellite Sputnik. This shape was famous in that time of the GDR. But it brings another funny phenomenon: when the sun falls onto it, it creates a cross on the surface. Nothing that the anti-religious government of the GDR wanted to see.
