The Colosseo or Amphitheatrum Flavium in Roma, Italy is the biggest amphitheater in the world – and a must-see in the capital of Italy. It was built from the year 72 CE on and was used for brutal events to entertain the citizens of Roma.
It is an architectonical masterpiece with its different levels and 80 entries making it possible to evacuate the amphitheater within five minutes. It was used for gladiator fights and fights against animals.
Today you can explore some parts of the arena and have a look into the cellars used to keep gladiators and animals. The floor could be removed to flood the Colosseum for fights using ships. An impressive building with a dark history.
