Well, the airport of Manchester isn’t very modern and does deserve a makeover. But maybe the busiest airport of the United Kingdom outside of London also fits well to the worker bee city, to the former heart of the Industrial Revolution. MAN airport was opened in 1938 and formerly known as the Ringway Airport – it is located 15 kilometers south of the city, in the civil parish of Ringway. The airport has two runways and three terminals nicely linked using skylinks.
Another skylink is taking you on dry feet through the typical rainy British weather to the railway station next to the airport. Using the Trainline mobile app or one of the ticket vending machines you can buy yourself a ticket and get very fast into the city center of Manchester. The main railway station is called Piccadilly, but you can also select trains to other stations like Oxford street or Deansgate. I never came so conveniently from the airport to my hotel in the city center like at Manchester.
