If you want to have a great view on the skyline of London there are different places to consider like Parliament Hill at Hampstead Heath or Muswell hill, but the best place I discovered by incident: the terrace of the Alexandra Palace located inside Alexandra Park. It is an event location known for darts and snooker tournaments, but Ally Pally is also the best option for Londoners to ride their sledges in the rare events of snow in the city.
The palace is named after Queen Consort Alexandra of Denmark (wife of Edward VII and mother of George V) and was opened in 1873 as an amusement park named The People’s Palace. The terrace surrounding Ally Pally offers great views on the city and during good weather you’ll find some food trucks offering iced coffee, crêpes and ice cream. Closest subway stop is Wood Green on the Piccadilly Line, closest option is the railway station called Alexandra Palace (Great Northern Rail) with connections to Moorgate and King’s Cross station.
