The city centre of Baunatal, Germany, is no extraordinary beauty. The reason why people from Kassel and the region around sometimes visit it can be found at its centre: the Stadthalle Baunatal, a location used for concerts and other cultural events. On 800 square meters, up to 1,000 people can attend events. But it can also be used for smaller meetings and fairs.
The Stadthalle Baunatal is in use for 30 years but quite in good shape. You can get here with tramway 5 to Altenbauna-Stadtmitte (from the city centre of Kassel) or with bus 51 from the railway station Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe – it‘s both a 30 minutes ride. I came here first for a reading of Russian-German author Wladimir Kaminer (best known for his work ‚Russian Disco‘ and the film based on it).
