The Shard

The Shard in Southwark, London is the highest building of the United Kingdom. The skyscraper looks like a shard of glass, is 310 meters high and contains 87 floors. It was opened in 2012 and you will find offices, high-class restaurants, a hotel and ten flats within the building.

Since 2013 you can visit two observation decks located on level 68 and 72. You need to pay quite a high price to get there but therefore you get really unusual views on London and drinks at reasonable prices. The architecture and the pyramid shape of the building make taking pictures a bit harder (and cleaning the glass obviously too) – but looking down on the tower, the river Thames and the tower bridge from this height is worth the entrance fee.
