The Science Center phaeno is located close to the main railway station of Wolfsburg, Germany. It is a giant playground in a crazy building designed by the architect Zaha Hadid. It has been opened in the year 2005 and contains more then 350 experiments you can do – mostly on your own.
I’ve been there many years ago and now I returned with my family to play with scientific experiments and phenomena. The phaeno is divided into different sections about life, math, senses, dynamics, vision and energy. It is suitable also for younger children in elementary school.
The restaurant within the building is fully targeted on this group: you get pizza and pasta. And there is also a small section with salads and potatoes. The phaeno is easy accessible by train but you can also park in a car park underneath. Because of a large shopping center next to it all parking lots were already blocked – but there are a lot more in front of the railway station.
