The cathedral of Erfurt, Germany is a huge catholic church located on a hill in the center of the city. Next to it the Severinskirche can be found. It is said that the building dates back to the year 725 CE. During the many years different changes have been applied to the building, mostly gothic style elements have been added.
Most beautiful are the many glass windows of the church, but even some statues. The whole setting on the hill with additional buildings surrounding it makes this place worth a visit. And if you’re not to much into sacral buildings: on the vast place in front of the cathedral you will find a food pavilion offering Thüringer Rostbratwurst (grilled sausage), the specialty of the federal state of Thuringia.
