The Fürstenzug in Dresden, Germany is a huge mural display attached to the castle within the city center. It has been painted from 1871 to 1876 and should celebrate the former sovereigns of Saxonia on the 800th anniversary of the Wettin family. It is 102 meters long and depicts 35 noblemen mounted on their horses.
The row starts with Conrad, Margrave of Meissen (11th century) and ends with George of Saxony (19th centure). The mural display names their additional names, reigns and slogans. The painting itself was exchanged in the beginning of the 19th century by approximately 23.000 porcellain tiles from the famous factory at Meissen, Germany. From this point on the artwork was secured and is now weather-proof.
