The Centre Pompidou in Paris, France is one of my favorite museums. It is a unique place for discovering modern art and entertaining every time I’m there. That’s why I was really surprised to find another Centre Pompidou – at Málaga, Spain. It wasn’t inside my guidebooks as it was pretty new: it opened in 2015 and shall be open for five years – the future not yet decided.
In Málaga the Centre Pompidou exhibits some great works from the French collection in a great underground museum easily findable by a multicolored glass cube on top. This includes some big installations, some video projects and paintings. Changing exhibitions (e. g. about photography) complete the museum. It’s much smaller than in Paris, of course, but it is really a place for fun that has also touched me emotionally.
The museum is located close to the harbour at the promenade “Muelle uno“. Next to it you’ll find several shops, bars and restaurants.
