If you are in Hannover, Germany and need to get your head clear you can enjoy a relaxing day in the AquaLaatzium in Laatzen, a small town in the south of Hannover. It offers different saunas, quite good infusions, nice bars and a restaurant and is maybe the best spa in the region.
Unique feature of the AquaLaatzium is the Suvi sauna, a classical Finnish sauna where you can drink Finnish beer (Lapin Kulta) during infusions which are seen as a social event and against all German sauna rules you can discourse loudly. Additionally there is a beautiful sauna above a see (you can watch the water through the wooden floor) and an awesome relaxation room with woodchips on the floor.
I’ve seen some really strange events like Santa Claus dancing under blacklight or esoteric earth-wind-water-fire-performances within the sauna. But if you avoid these you can have a wonderful time here. Special events are regularly featured on their web site. AquaLaatzium is close to the train station Hannover-Messe/Laatzen and can be reached by tramway 2 – but check the tariff zones, Laatzen isn’t officially part of Hannover.
