Something absolutely worth being put on your list is a visit to Madison Square Garden (“The Garden“, MSG) – a stadium for different sports and a concert hall in the center of Manhattan. It names itself “The World’s Most Famous Arena“, dates back to the year 1874 and is home to the New York Rangers (NHL), New York Knicks (NBA) and New York Liberty (WNBA).
I came here for a WNBA basketball match between New York Liberty and the Los Angeles Sparks. I bought a ticket some days ahead at the ticket counters within MSG and equipped myself with a Tina Charles (#31) shirt. On the day of the match I joined the fans of New York Liberty and enjoyed the atmosphere within the arena.
The show is superb, the scoreboard and the video material are classy. As the only drawback I can name that the home team lost (like always when I’m inside an arena abroad) – and, I didn’t get a beer. The only proof of age that would have been excepted was my passport, lying in my hotel room. But the staff answered my question “Am I looking that young?” very politely.
