As one of the town’s landmarks, the Brooklyn Bridge over the East River connects Manhattan with Brooklyn. Opened in 1886 it was the longest steel-wire suspension bridge in the world. Numerous pictures and movies include the bridge and it has even found its way into literature.

The bridge has six lanes and a pedestrian walkway on top. You can access the bridge at the metro station Brookly Bridge/City hall and walk over to Brooklyn – crossing the FDR drive. On the other side you can turn right and walk down to the water and you will find a nice park, the Brooklyn Bridge Park. From there you can go by boat to Wall Street or up the East River.
