The Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II in Roma, Italy is a monument for the foundation of the state of Italy and its first king Vittorio Emanuele II. The locals also call it the typewriter – because of its shape.
It is an important national monument located in the heart of the city. The decision to build it was taken at the day of death of the former emporer. It was finished in 1911 and today you can find there an eternal flame, the grave of the unknown soldier and a museum about the Italian independence wars.
