Winter Wonderland

When the days are getting shorter and colder, a part of Hyde Park close to Speakers’ Corner turns into the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland – a crazy mix of a Christmas market, the Oktoberfest and a fun fair. Winter Wonderland began at London in 2005 and was ever-growing since then (if you ignore the Covid-19 times). It combines good music, festive lights, fun rides and overpriced food and drinks. A funny adventure letting you taste unexpected food creations and experience the joy of amusement parks.

If you want to enter you need to get an entry ticket upfront online. It costs £5 and is mostly to ensure that not everybody tries to use one of the entrances at the same time (you get an one-hour timeslot for entry), but especially in evening hours you might experience longer waiting times. Winter Wonderland tries to copy some traditions of German Christmas markets, especially in its ‘Bavarian village‘ – but please don’t believe this all is original. No German would put cheese into a Bockwurst to make it a ‘Kasebockwurst‘. And putting Sauerkraut and crispy onions onto a Bratwurst is a real cultural offense. 😉
