High above the city of Fulda you can find the Franciscan cloister Kloster Frauenberg. If you want to enjoy great views on the city or do some sports (the ascent is quite steep) you should choose to get up. On top of the mountain you can relax in the cloister gardens or a enjoy a coffee at the terrace of the coffee bar of the cloister.
The cloister dates back to the year 802 and has a background rooted in the history of the city: when Saint Boniface came to Fulda to monitor the creation of the Benedictine cloister (which was the germ cell of todays city) he often went up onto a mountain to relax and to worship. And this is the mountain in which the Kloster Frauenberg was built later.
Do it like Saint Boniface: at the St. Salvator church turn to the North, walk through the Paulusgate and along parks up the hill. You’ll easily find the ascent to the cloister.
