Most people in the world probably know Karl Marx: the author of the Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital (Capital: A Critique of Political Economy), the father of Marxism and famous thinker of the Socialist and Communist world. But did you know that he was born at Trier, Germany?
The birthplace of Karl Marx can be found in the city center at the address Brückenstraße 10. There is not only a commemorative plague on the outside of the beautiful small building but also a museum dedicated to Marx inside. He was born there in 1818 and left the city in 1835 for studies at Bonn and Berlin. He died in 1883 at London and is buried at the Highgate Cemetery.
