Gärten der Welt

A fantastic place for a long walk are the Gärten der Welt (gardens of the world) in Berlin, Germany. They are also a good reason to discover the city quarter Marzahn which hasn’t the best reputation. It is the location for the Internationale Gartenausstellung (IGA) 2017 and on the grounds of a park that has already been created in 1987 different gardens in the styles of other countries have been realized: From England and Italy via China to Japan, Bali and Korea.

There are also a Christian and a Jewish garden. It is wonderful to enter these different worlds and discover many details. I especially liked the Balinese Garden in a tropical greenhouse and the vast Chinese one – I could sit there for hours and just watch the lake. Within the Gärten der Welt you can also find a cable car to a ‘mountain’ and from this you can get down with a bobsleigh. Additionally playgrounds, a water playground, a maze and a restaurant/coffee bar can be found.

I came here in winter and therefore couldn’t visit all the gardens – especially the Japenese one was unfortunately closed. Nevertheless, I enjoyed walking around there and discovering this place. It was absolutely worth the 4 Euros I paid. You can reach the park with bus X69 (stop ‘Blumberger Damm/Gärten der Welt‘) – and that one you can catch by going with U5 to Elsterwerdaer Platz.
