You cannot omit to see the Castello di Las Plassas or Castello della Marmilla at Las Plassas, Italy when driving towards Barumini. The rest of the former fortification from the 12th century is standing on a 274 meters high former volcano.
It was first mentioned in the year 1164 and you can get to the top – bet therefor you need to walk 20 minutes steadily up the steep hill. In the year 2000 archaeological excavations took place and the found items can be seen in the tiny museum at the village.
