The Glienicker Brücke is a bridge spanning the river Havel and the cities Berlin and Potsdam in Germany. Therefore it was a bridge from the FDR to the GDR while Germany was devided. Because of its remote position it was used as a checkpoint for military staff and a place to exhange secret agents that have been captured.

Between 1962 and 1986 three exchanges with 40 exchanged persons have been done on the Bridge of Spies. At this place there have been several bridges since the 17th century: first made of wood, later of stone. There was also a toll station at the Glienicker Brücke to finance road and bridges. The current iron bridge has been built in 1906 and was partly destroyed in the end of World War II. It has been repaired in 1947.
