Canal cruising

There are approximately 200 canals with a length of 80 kilometers in Amsterdam, the Netherlands shaping the image of the city. Most important is the Grachtengordel – a system of four canals (Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht) surrounding the city core in rings. They are typically 27 meters wide and 2,4 meters in depth.

For canal cruises there seems to be a typical tour leading from Amsterdam Centraal to the East, surrounding the city center southbound and then arriving at the railway station from the West. But there are tours of different length and different content; some also serve meals. You can book a tour at the visitor centre in front of the railway station or watch out which boat type you want to take and walk directly to a boat operator.
