Gardens, boats and towers

What comes to your mind when you think about Sevilla, Spain? Maybe bullfighting, the traditional Spanish “sports” you won’t support. Or the “Giralda”, the tower of Sevillas cathedral? I must admit, I haven’t had Sevilla on the list of places to see. Even if it will never be my most favorite city, it is a nice place stretched along river Guadalquivir.

A visit typically starts with the triangle consisting of the Westindia archive, the cathedral and the Reales Alcázares – the kings palace. It is the heart of the city and after visiting the gorgeous gardens it is a small walk to the Parque de María Luisa and the fantastic Plaza de España (where you can ride boats across the square), built in 1902 and scenery of Star Wars episode II, depicting the planet Naboo.

Most tourists end their visit after this. But you can also walk along the river to the Torre del Oro, roam through the streets and discover places like the Espacio Metropol Parasol with its wooden mushroom-look structures created by German architect Jürgen Hermann Mayer. A nice city with lots of green spaces to walk around and enjoy the warm Spanish weather.
