When going to Kyōto, Japan the Kansai kokusai kūkō might be your destination. It is located 40 kilometers south of Osaka and transports 17 million passengers each year. The Kansai International Airport (KIX) was opened in 1994.
It was planned as a 24 hours operating airport but it was never needed that way. With the airports of Kōbe and Osaka-Itami as challengers it will remain oversized. It is connected by JR train to Kyōto and by bus to Kōbe and Nara.
