Bendlerblock

The Bendlerblock is a section of the building of the Department of Defense in Berlin, Germany. The building was used for the same purpose during Nazi times and it was they place where the group around Ludwig Beck and Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg organized the attack on Adolf Hitler.

On the 20th of July 1944 they started Operation Walküre here. The attempt to kill Hitler by a bomb in the Wolfsschanze in Eastern Prussia failed. Stauffenberg and his partners where shot in the court of the Bendlerblock at midnight. Even though they were soldiers and had their specific reasons – it was good that someone tried to end this all.
