The Bundeskanzleramt in Berlin, Germany is the office of the German chancellor and located close to the Reichstag. It was built until 2001 and was necessary because of the shift of the government from Bonn to Berlin.

It was planned during the times of Helmut Kohl but was inaugurated by Gerhard Schröder. It is eight times as big as the White House in Washington, United States. You can visit it, but only with strong security measures and registration in advance. Because of its specific architecture it received the nickname “washing machine”.
