Miniaturland

The Leeraner Miniaturland is a captivating destination for anyone interested in model landscapes and regional culture. Spread across more than 1,500 square meters, the exhibition brings the essence of northwestern Germany to life in intricate detail. Visitors can explore miniature versions of Ostfriesland, Oldenburg, Bad Zwischenahn, the Ammerland, and even Berlin, all crafted at a 1:87 scale. The models showcase not just buildings and landmarks, but also lively scenes featuring moving trains, cars, ships, and over 130 interactive elements that visitors can control themselves.

Among the highlights are famous sites such as the Pilsum lighthouse, the Meyer-Werft shipyard in Papenburg, and the bustling city centers of Leer and Oldenburg. The Berlin section, which was added after the integration of the LOXX model railway from Berlin, features iconic locations like the Reichstag, the government quarter, Berlin Mitte, and the new BER airport. The exhibition also includes charming vignettes, such as a funfair, a rock festival, and even local celebrities in miniature, making the experience both educational and entertaining.

Outside, the Miniaturland offers a large park with themed gardens, a playground, an 18-hole minigolf course, and a garden railway at a 1:22 scale, where visitors can try their hand at being a train conductor. The site is family-friendly and provides a café for refreshments, making it an ideal spot for both young and old to spend a few hours discovering the region’s landscapes and stories in miniature form.
