If I would look for a place to reenact some scenes of Pulp Fiction, The Vic would be my first choice. It isn’t by far a boutique hotel like how it is marketed, it rather feels like a motel at a radial road in a suburb of Victoria (on Vancouver Island). A lot of parking lots are available, the rooms are equipped with a kitchenette but they are already a bit shabby and need renovation (I couldn’t even lock my balcony door). But therefore the place also has its own liquor store, a Floyds Diner that serves good breakfast and a pub for the evening hours.
Don’t try to walk to the city center and the touristic places from here, it is a an exhausting 45 minutes walk and it is not always so beautiful like when crossing the bay on the wooden bridge belonging to the Galopping Goose Trail. In front of the hotel bus 11 stops and takes you to the city center, but you cannot use your credit card – you can only buy a day ticket for 5 CAD on the bus if you have the exact amount. The hotel also has a room on the ground floor showing sports matches and giving you the opportunity to play table soccer and table tennis (the so-called Optimism Lounge). Here I watched the EM 2024 quarterfinal between Spain and Germany on my birthday. No happy end included.
