Konstantinbasilika

The massive Konstantinbasilika at Trier is a special church. The architecture is plain, the walls are high and inside this house of prayer is mostly undecorated. When the Roman emperors used this place in the fourth century it was a hall for audiences.

When you walk around the building and into small park next to it the facade changes totally: in 1614 the church was integrated into the beautiful residence of the local bishop. The most beautiful part is actually the park with its fountains and statues – an oasis close to the city center.
