A campanile is a singular standarding church bell tower – and this one belongs to the Basilica di San Marco in Venezia, Italy. It is standing on the famous Piazza San Marco and is a town’s landmark of Venezia.
It is 98.6 meters high and therefore the highest building in Venezia. It was used as a lighthouse for ships in earlier days. There are many imitations along the eastern Miditerranean Sea (in Slovenia, Croatia and Italy) – where the republic of Venezia was ruling in the past.
