The Company’s Garden in Cape Town is a historic public park located in the heart of the city, originally established in the 17th century by the Dutch East India Company as a supply garden to provide fresh produce to passing ships on their voyages to the East. Over the centuries, the garden has evolved into a lush, green space surrounded by significant cultural and historical landmarks, including the South African Museum, National Gallery, and the parliament buildings.

The garden is home to a variety of indigenous and exotic plants, as well as a number of large, old trees, some of which date back to the garden’s original planting. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful stroll through the garden, relax by its ponds, or visit the Iziko South African Museum for a dose of history and culture. The Company’s Garden continues to serve as a central gathering place, offering a serene escape from the bustle of the city, while also offering insights into Cape Town’s colonial past and its transformation into the vibrant city it is today.
