The church Santa Maria della Salute is a nice sacral building in Venezia, Italy. It is located on the other side of the Canale Grande in front of the Piazza San Marco. It’s name refers to its purpose: to improve the health of the citizens.
In the year 1630 the doge Nicolò Contarini proposed to build a new church to cure Venezia from the pest. It was finished in 1687 – five years after the death of the architect Longhena who worked nearly his whole life on this building.
