Impression soleil levant

I consider the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris, France a hidden pearl. I love French Impressionism but I never heard about it. It is located a bit remote close to the Bois du Bologne and was opened in 1934 in the villa of the Marmottan family.

The museum contains the largest collection of the works of Claude Monet – but you won’t recognize this in the very beginning. On the ground floor of the building you’ll find impressionist paintings, but only if you walk down some stairs you’ll see all those masterpieces of Monet – including Impression soleil levante, the work that gave Impressionism its name.
