The Europäisches Brotmuseum in Ebergötzen is a specialist museum devoted to the story of bread, showing how grain cultivation, milling and baking developed over many centuries. It presents this theme as a cultural history of ‘from grain to bread’, with exhibits ranging from the earliest farming communities to modern times.

Its roots go back to the late 1960s, when the museum was founded as a private association project and first opened in Mollenfelde. As the collection grew, it was moved in 2004 to the former forestry office of Radolfshausen in Ebergötzen, a handsome historic building that now gives the museum a much larger and more fitting home.
Inside, visitors can see a broad permanent exhibition with tools, machines, documents and everyday objects that explain how bread became such an important part of daily life, religion and culture. There are also displays on the history of agriculture, the processing of grain, the work of millers and bakers, and the role of bread in art, customs and nutrition.

Outside, the museum is especially attractive for a proper wander, because it includes historic mills, bread ovens, agricultural machinery, gardens and open-air features that bring the subject to life. The old windmill and watermill are among the highlights, and the whole site feels less like a dry display and more like a living journey through food history.
