The Posthalle is an amazing concert venue at the railway station of Würzburg, Germany. It is located in a former postal distribution center next to the railway tracks. The building was in use from 1970 to 1993 and then empty for fifteen years. In 2008 the concert location Posthalle was opened and hosts up to 200 concerts every year. Up to 2,800 visitors can join the many live events with this special industrial flair.
I came there for an amazon show of the Dropkick Murphys and immediately fell in love with the venue. It is directly next to the railway station and you walk up to the railway track level to find the entrance. There is an outdoor area to get fresh beer really fast and there are absolutely no neighbors that a good party could disturb.
Unfortunately the rental agreement ends in 2023 as the area is planned to be converted into a residential und business zone (‘Bismarckquartier‘). What a loss! Let’s hope that the city council will at least find a good alternative to offer. It can’t be like this unique place, but at least the concert location shouldn’t be fully gone.
